Sharing nudes? For many teens, that’s a fact of life – but they don’t realise how risky it is.
That’s why the Internet Watch Foundation – which exists to protect children from online sexual abuse – asked for an unforgettable behaviour change campaign. Here’s what I gave them.
Lubed-up aubergines. Dripping bananas. Morphing emojis. And one simple, memorable tagline.
Think Before You Share came to life through vivid animation and hyperreal photography – as well as a TikTok campaign meeting young people where they’re at.
I even managed to get Diane Morgan to record some audio ads for us. Improvising a script with her in the studio was probably a career highlight.
Even better, though, was the fact academic researchers at Anglia Ruskin evaluated the campaign properly – and found that, when teenagers saw it, they genuinely thought twice about sharing images of themselves online.
